On Ancestry Worship in Records of Dreams in The Spring and AutumnAnnals by ZUO Qiu-ming

  • 摘要:《左传》中梦象大多涉及到了本宗族与现实政治、人物之间的关系,体现了春秋时期的祖先崇拜现象。在梦象中祖先大多和蔼可敬,其职能是保护本宗族人员,保护后代人身安全、为后人复仇或报恩、安排子嗣继承,具有宗族性。

    Abstract:The records of dream in The Spring and Autumn Annals by ZUO Qiu-ming largely involve the relationship between the family concerned and the real politics and figures. This shows the ancestry worship in the Spring and Autumn period. In such records, most ancestors are kind and respectable and they play a role in protecting their family members and safety of their offspring, revenging or repaying gratitude for their descendents, and arranging their successors. In this sense, they are characterized by lineage.
