On the Tradition ofAffair-administered and Practical Learning inChineseLiterature and Its Specific Manifestation

  • 摘要:“经世”、“致用”在中国典籍中本是两个词,合在一起使用,开端于梁启超,是“尽其功用于治理天下”的意思,其内核是面向现实,注重实效。对文学来说,“经世致用”是对文学功能的要求,是对文学作价值判断的依据,事实上也是中国文学的传统精神,表现在对美刺、资治、教化这些实际功用孜孜以求。

    Abstract:Administering affairs and practicality were two separate words in the Chinese ancient works. The use of the combination between the two started from LIANG Qi-chao. And such combination meant “administer the nation with what one has learned”. Its core is to face the reality and stress the practice. For literature, the affair-administered and practical learning is the requirement of literary function and the base for judgment of value of literary works. And as a matter of fact, it is the traditional spirit of Chinese literature. It is expressed in the pursuit of elegant satire, aid to learning and education.
