Abstract:The main force of the Yunnan99 Uprising in1911 was the new army deeply influenced by the anti-Manchu revolutionary thoughts. The Yunnan gentry of the upper classes represented by Yunnan Consultation Bureau did not make any positive response before the uprising. However, this class was not unimportant in this historical huge change. After Kunming’s returning from enemies’ side and Yunnan’s independence, instead of resistance, the gentry class positively cooperated and helped the revolution. Thus, Yunnan achieved its recovery and stability in a short time.
