Abstract:To explore the effect of the cognitive style upon the contextual cueing effect under the change detection task, 29 undergraduate subjects(with field independent and field dependent cognitive style) were subjected to eye movement experi- ments respectively by adopting the classical paradigm of change detection task. The experiment is divided into10 training sta- ges plus1 migration stage. It is found: 1. Under the change detection task, the influence of the cognitive styles on the contex- tual cueing effect is not significant; 2. The influence of different stimulating layout background information and the cognitive styles on the contextual cueing effect was not significant; 3. Participants acquire contextual cueing effect under the change de- tection task, and the individual performance improves significantly after repetitive training for6 times. The improvement of performance is chiefly seen in terms of the average fixation time and the reduced time for target confirmation.
