Influences of Family Culture on LIU Xianxin

摘要:被称为“一代之雄”清末民初的蜀中学者刘咸炘,其学术思想和治学态度深受家族文化的影响。首先,受祖父刘沅“槐轩学说”的影响,刘咸炘的学术发展始终以儒学为治学根基;其次,母教和联姻塑造了刘氏淡泊名利、与世无争的性格,一直影响刘咸炘的治学态度;最后,家族书塾为刘咸炘的学术发展提供了良好的学习和交流的环境。

Abstract:The academic ideas and attitude of the scholar LIU Xianxin who was once called“master” in central Sichuan was deeply influenced by family culture. Firstly, he was influenced by the“Huaixuan doctrine” of his grandfather LIU Yuan. His academic development took the Confucianism as the base all the time. Secondly, his mother’s education and marriage shaped LIU’s characters of indifference to fame and wealth and standing aloof from worldly success. These all exerted influ- ence on LIU Xianxin’s academic attitude. Finally, the family private school provided a good environment of study and commu- nication for his academic development.
