Abstract:Sichuan has the second biggest number of disabled population with the proportion of the disabled population ranking first in the country. With the abundant tourism resources, the governments at all levels make it a priority to develop tourism in the province, yet the barrier-free tourism for the disabled receives little attention. A demand analysis of the barrier- free tourism in Sichuan is done and it is found: the demand is strong; the subjects of the barrier-free tourism have a wider range of concerns and their choices are more focused. Some counter measures are suggested: the making of supporting laws and improvement be promoted; the publicity campaign be stepped up and the tourism network information bank for barrier-free tourism be established; the construction of barrier-free environment be accelerated thus to speed up the completion of a barrier- free tourism platform.
