Abstract:"Although the speed and achievements of urbanization in China have gained worldwide attention, yet the prob-
lems arising from this process have not escaped our notice. Although a great number of scholars have made some correlation studiesover quick urbanization and future food security, yet little attention has ever been paid to current concerns about food se- curity and fast urbanization at the current stage. From the perspectives of exogenous safety, endogenous safety and structural safety of food, causal analysis finds that the prime factor to blame is the over pursuit of scale effect in the singular developing mode of urbanization, and it is hoped that the government and industries could step up efforts to support and guide the food in- dustry so as to rid of the hidden risks of food security."
