On Flexible Use of Onomatopoeic Words in Modern Chinese and Its Causes

摘要:现代汉语拟声词在使用中具有灵活性的特点,主要表现为拟声词的重叠形式、多能性及其变体。大量语言材料证明,造成拟声词灵活性的原因是多方面的,主要包括感知主体的差异和语境的影响。拟声词的灵活性使其在运用中有积极的作用,但也存在消极的地方。我们在运用中要准确把握拟声词的灵活性这一特点,使其发挥应有的表达效果。

Abstract:The onomatopoeic words in modern Chinese are quite flexible in use. This is mainly showed in their forms of
reduplication, multi-function and varieties. A great amount of language materials have proved that the flexibility of onomato- poeic words have a lot of causes, which mainly include differences of perceptive subjects and influence of context. Such flexibil-
ity has its own positive functions as well as the negative ones. We should know this exactly and play its best expressive effect in use.
