Abstract:The work Wild Guest’s Series was the academic notes made by Wang Mao in Song Dynasty.Nearly seventy reading notes have made accurate research into the phonology, word explanation and Chinese characters.They have reflected some features of Wang Mao’s linguistic study:relatively clear historical linguistic view, adequate materials as the evidence, innovative spirit, and vast horizon of linguistic study.The work has relatively high value of Chinese linguistic history.And it cannot be neglected by those who study the linguistic history of Song Dynasty.
