Abstract:Taking the major functions of a higher learning institute as the logic starting point and combining the competency theory, an investigation is conducted over the professional quality of the college sports teacher. The result shows that the professional qualities of a college teacher should bear a logic structure of its own and be based on its own theoretical foundation, and at the same time be in accord with the functions of a college or university in talent cultivation, scientific research and other social functions, on basis of which the professional qualities of a college sports teacher like the benchmark competency and the discrimination competency are put under examination respectively.
