Abstract:The mountains and rivers in Sichuan gave birth to ZHANG Da-qian’s poems and paintings. Sichuan has a long history, brilliant culture, and is a place with famous mountains, rivers, scenic spots, cultural relics, unique scenery, flavor and folk custom, which not only became subjects of ZHANG’s creation of his works, but were his art life and places in which his feelings rested and directly influenced his style of calligraphy and painting. ZHANG took nature as his master and employed everything in it. And his ink style began to be unique and creative when he was in Sichuan and became the prelude to his innovation of painting. The calligraphic and painting works about Sichuan are the most striking among his artistic world and they reflected his homesickness and artistic feature of learning from nature.
