Abstract:Metonymy is an effective narrative strategy the narrator adopts on purpose. And it has four main functions of narrative strategy: selection of narrative focus, creation of narrative margin, construction of psychological passage which leads to the readers’ reasoning of metonymy, and success in opening and diversity of text interpretation.
