Abstract:In the period of May Fourth Movement, the advanced intellectuals made discussions on the issues as the nature of love, status of love in marriages, how to achieve the freedom in love, and the relation between love and chastity. Meanwhile, they directed some views and practice concerning love. Such discussions played a positive role in people’s correct dealing with love, encouraging youths to fight against the feudal marriages, pursuing free love, lashing the old feudal views on love and marriages and establishing the new ones.
