Abstract:The personality aesthetics of YAN Zhi-tui is the one with man as orientation. Therefore, his thought is not confined to a specific one. The two qualities “rite” and “abstinence” are the basis of his self-cultivation of the aesthetics. It is specifically shown in the knowledge of rite after practice, control instead of intemperance, and caution instead of frivolity. Meanwhile, he showed his unique attributes of his personality aesthetics when he expatiated on writers of the past dynasties
