Abstract:Employing the methods of documentation, questionnaire, and mathematical statistics and so on, an investigation is made into the current situation, status quo of the sports participation, sports time and space of the empty nesters in Suzhou. The results show that the empty nesters have an active participation in sports with a rather strong sports consciousness, and a healthy and civilized sports life style is taking shape, yet scientific guidance in this regard needs to be further strengthened. In order to solve the problems found in our study, coping strategies for the development of urban empty nesters are put forth from various perspectives and adequate concern must be given to their sports life and efforts should be stepped up to prompt an all round and harmonious development of their sports life
