“One TV Play Shared by Two Satellite TV Stations” and 920 Program Belt: On Competition among Provincial Satellite TV Stations and Platform Strategy
Abstract
Since the new policy of “one TV play shared by two satellite TV stations” was adopted, all provincial satellite TV stations have encountered 920 program belt(from 9:20 – 10:00 p.m.)in the evening television broadcasting. Many of them have spared no effort to manage this belt, updated various means just like the eight immortals crossing the sea—each one showing his / her prowess. Half a year has passed, the effects of their broadcasting are different, and competition have become pluralistic. Through tracking, we have found that the TV play is still the most powerful weapon for such competition. And the self-running columns are the base of the platform. In the crossroad of situation, the provincial TV stations can realize the transformation of the platforms with the help of new media.
