Review of Study on Mold Fluxes for High Aluminum Steels

  • There are mainly three slag systems to study mold fluxes for high aluminum steels, which are “reactive” CaO-SiO 2slag system, “non-reactive” CaO-Al 2O 3slag system and “weakly reactive” CaO-SiO 2-Al 2O 3slag system. The theory and application research on mold fluxes of different slag systems for high aluminum steels and the advantages and disadvantages were introduced respectively. Finally, it is pointed out that mold fluxes of CaO-SiO 2slag system is the predominant choices in casting high aluminum steels.
