The Place of ZHOU Yu's Image in the Narrative Structure of The Romance of Three Kingdoms and Its Cultural Connotation

  • The historical figure, ZHOU Yu, has entered the designing and creation of novelists, and his image has mutated after it was reshaped. Such mutation is the need for the artistic creation. And the ZHOU Yu's image is quite successful after the mutation. Firstly, ZHOU Yu has become the famous typical figure in the Chinese classical works. Secondly, his image in The Romance of Three Kingdoms has made great influence in the folk culture. Thirdly, such image has shown the profound humanistic connotation in the traditional culture. It is believed that without the ZHOU Yu's image in The Romance of Three Kingdoms, the historical figure ZHOU Yu would not have exerted such extensively profound influence.
