A Study of Visualized Expressive Paths to Traditional Operas

  • Under the background of social culture oriented by consumerism, unprecedented prosperous entertainment products brought about by multimedia, and the audience’s tastes tending to be secularized, the development of traditional opera art is facing with dilemma. And the graphic language is characterized by perceptual intuition and vividness and can satisfy the audience’s psychology of hunting for new and strange things and pursuing effect. It has gradually replaced the word language and become a form of mainstream culture. We can replay the traditional operas with the pictures in cartoon art, and shape the figures and scenes of operas with the modeling and color, add some vivid visual elements while keeping the classical musical voice of operas. Thus, the visual impact force is more in accordance with aesthetic taste of modern people. And this can win more space for Huangmei opera’s development. On the other hand, the fusion of opera elements into cartoon can add more na- tional flavor for the opera scripts of Chinese cartoon and hence promote the art taste of cartoon.
