On the Coupling and Coordination Development between Tourism and New-type Urbanization in Old Liberated Area———A Case Study of Sichuan-Shanxi Soviet Area

Five cities in Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet Area were studied by building an evaluation index system between tourism and new-type urbanization by use of the coupling and coordination degree model to analyze the interaction and coupling mechanism. The results showed that none of the five cites was in synchronous development stage between tourism and newtype urbanization, all cities were either in the retarded state or in the advanced state. The developing trend took a“W”-shaped pattern in terms of the regional comprehensive coupling degree, which was moderately out of control before2007 and severely out of control after2008 when the trend took a typical“∧”-shaped pattern in regional comprehensive coordination degree. Dur- ing the ten years, the coupling degree of tourism and new-type urbanization in four cites was in a fluctuating state. Four cities including Nanchong were in a moderately out-of-control state in this regard, and the city of Bazhong was the only city whose coordination degree of tourism and new-type urbanization was severely out of control.
