Research on College Students Adaptive Capacity

  • In order to learn about the current college students’ adaptive capacity, a survey was conducted among 3340 college students from four of the colleges and universities in the Anhui province by applying the China College Students Adjustment Scale to investigate their adaptive performance in aspects of gender, major, grade, source place that the student is from and the college type. The findings show that the overall adaptability of the college students is unsatisfactorily low except in the aspect of emotional adjustment. The adaption level of male students is significantly lower than that of female students except in the two aspects of emotional adjustment and self adaptation; The adaption level of sciences and engineering students is significantly higher than that of liberal arts students; The adaption level of college students ascends with the grade into an inverted “V” trend. The whole adaption level of college students from big cities is better than that of those from the other places. The adaption level of medical students is generally good, next to them in turn is students from science and engineering universities, normal universities and agricultural universities.
