Distribution of the Mineral Elements in Snakegourd Fruit and Its Correlation with the Soil
Abstract
In order to get a clear picture about the distribution of the mineral elements in snakegourd fruit and its correlation with the soil, using the snakegourd fruit and its growth soil as experimental materials, the contents of the elements like Cu, Zn, Mn, Fe, Ca, Mg, K, Na in its core, peels, leaves and the soil, were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. The result showed that the snakegourd fruit was rich in mineral elements essential to the human body; the elements in different tissues of the fruits and the soil , had correlation( P<0.05,P=0.01), and the peels , core, leaves had some accumulation ability of the elements in the soil, especially the accumulation ability of leaves for the Ca, Mg, K, in which the accumulation coefficient was 1.23, 0.98 and 2.93 respectively. The mineral elements in the fruits had tissue distribution and regional distributing difference, in which most of the element differences were significant(P<0.05) and the largest RSD was 49.4%.The planting environment had significant influence on the quality of the snakegourd fruit, and further study on the relationship between the mineral elements in the snakegourd fruits and the environment, had obvious significance for the improvement of the quality and medical efficacy.
